There are too many teachers who FORCE kids to read books they have no interest in, whatsoever. It’s agony, being forced to read something you can’t stand. School can destroy a child’s love of reading forever. My granddaughter is currently being taught to hate poetry…so much so that I don’t think she will ever read or write it again. Thanks to a brutal teacher who is, I have no doubt, doing this on purpose. There is a brilliant man who said, “Schools kill creativity,” and I agree. They do it on purpose so that the kids grow up to be easily controlled because they have no interest in things that are important or beautiful. This particular teacher is doing a wonderful job of destroying a beautiful thing. It happens all the time. We do nothing to stop it. You can’t get through the wall of those who protect the bad etchers. Kids don’t start out hating to read or write stories or poetry…they are TAUGHT to hate it…in school.
That is so TRUE.
