Giving Up

2467a15b9c44402537c04c6926f8e8a2I try to stick it out at least halfway through the book but once in a great while I have to give up. I don’t like giving up but sometimes you just have to!

Yeah, honestly I don’t even go half way anymore. If it’s good I will stick with it, even hard reading, even if I have to keep coming back to it. But if it doesn’t do it for me in a few chapters, or a handful of poems, I toss it. Life is too short to read bad writing, or at least writing that doesn’t move me.

I agree but there have been times when I considered putting a book down but stuck with it and it turned out to be good. Many years ago, when I was on a Stephen King kick, I stopped reading Tommyknockers halfway through. I like the way he writes but I couldn’t get into that book. A year later, I picked it up again and found out that the first half was kind of slow but the second half was really good. Since then, I’ve tried to get through half a book, if possible.
