Along the way we come across the struggles of finding solace, finding out who you really are, and making decisions in a post apocalyptic world. The Breadwinner is a three part story and the first book in a planned series that will leave you craving more.

I received a free copy of the audiobook for an honest review.
I’ve always said that I’m not a fan of zombies but I think I’m going to have to change that to I’m not a fan of zombie movies and TV shows, because I have liked all of the zombie books I’ve read or listened to recently. The Breadwinner is a good example.
The story starts as a virus is spreading and there are quickly few people left unharmed. There are definitely more undead than dead which causes many tense situations as the survivors try to make their way to the bay to get away from the undead as well as the carnage.
There are several characters but I was able to keep them all straight, which isn’t always easy for me. Stevie Kopas did a good job at describing and naming them. Most of the characters I either really liked or really disliked with no middle ground. The exception to that was Samson, the breadwinner, whom I had mixed feelings about. He is a complicated character and is strong in some ways but excruciatingly weak in other ways.
The narrator did a good job. His voice was clear and I was able to distinguish the different characters by his voice.
I definitely recommend The Breadwinner and I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy!

Stevie Kopas was born and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She is a gamer, a writer and an apocalypse enthusiast. Stevie will never turn down a good cup of coffee and might even be a bit of a caffeine addict.
Stevie is the author of The Breadwinner Trilogy. Books 1 and 2, The Breadwinner and Haven were originally self-published in 2013 and 2014. The Breadwinner Trilogy was picked up by Permuted Press in May of 2014 and the second editions of both the first books were released in March and April of 2015. The third and final installment in The Breadwinner Trilogy, All Good Things, debuted in May of 2015.
