A call for help from an old friend lands Bianca and the crew back in Boston. On a timeout with Dante, due to revelations in the aftermath of the showdown in Naples, Bianca is drawn to a mysterious new ally who understands the traumas of her past and has some very real trauma of his own. Murder, designer drugs, and a hacker named Magician challenge our team, and Bianca learns that leaving Rendition behind might be much harder  than she thinks.

My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Corporate Citizen is the fifth book in the Roma series. I’ve read all of the books in the series and they keep getting better. After reading 5 books, I feel like I know the characters pretty well. Bianca, the main character, is very smart but has trouble with long-term relationships. She is improving at opening up, though. She’s even learned to trust several people along the way. The men who usually help her figure things out, Allessandro, Diego, Gennaro, and Silvio, are a joy to read about. Silvio started out as a joke when he was learning English but now he’s an important member of the team.

Gabriel Valjan’s books aren’t the kind that I can sit down and read in one sitting. Corporate Citizen is no different. There’s a lot going on with a large cast of characters, and I had to read more slowly so I could absorb it all and not miss anything. There is a Cast of Characters at the beginning of the book which helps.

Corporate Citizen is full of mystery, murder, and conspiracy. It stands on its own but I’m glad I read the other books first because there’s so much more to the characters than what is in this book. I definitely recommend this book but if you have time, I’d suggest reading the first 4 books first.

My reviews of the first four books: Roma, Underground,  Wasp’s Nest,  Threading the Needle, Turning to Stone.
