What a cute story! Alycat’s brother Bugsy has a lucky ball for when he plays golf. On their way to a golf tournament, Alycat realizes that she brought the wrong ball for him, but she draws on it to make him think it’s his lucky ball. Bugsy plays well without the lucky ball and realizes after he finds out what Alycat did, that he doesn’t need one after all.
This adorable story with colorful pictures teaches that luck isn’t as important as practice and hard work. Also, at the end there is a page called, “Alycat’s ABCs of Golf.” It lists a word that is related to golf for every letter of the alphabet. Such a fun way for children to learn new words! And adults, too. There are a couple of words there that I didn’t know.
Alycat and the Tournament Tuesday is a good book to get for young children, and I have a feeling it’s one of those that they’ll want to read (or want you to read) over and over again.
