**SPOILER ALERT**
After posting my review of The Coast-to-Coast Murders, I received several emails asking me to explain the epilogue. I realized that there were two possibilities, and I had a feeling that the authors wrote it that way so that everyone would be wondering. I was right!
I asked J.D. Barker to please enlighten us, and this was his response:

I think you nailed it – we purposely want people to walk away those two exact thoughts:
– Did Dr. Rose fake her death in order to continue her work with Megan?
or- Did Megan imagine the entire thing?
As you can imagine, I’m not ready to share the answer just yet and if I did, Jim might send a hit squad after me 🙂

Bound 4 Escape 
It was very obvious they intentionally left the loose end of not finalizing Rose’s death. I kept waiting to see if there would be a report of finding her body, or if she may reappear. After listening to the ending a second time, the conclusion I reached was exactly as Barker stated it to you. Although slightly ticked off about a “Lost” type ending, the specter of a potential sequel eased that irritation. I would greatly welcome a continuation of Megan’s journey plus Gimble and Dobbs’ quest to find her and figure out what the hell the whole story is.

They definitely left enough questions for there to be a sequel. I think there will be quite a few fans who are more than slightly ticked off if those questions aren’t resolved. Only time will tell.
