Book Review: Hiding Baby Moses by Judith L. Roth

Publication date: April 27, 2021

A baby boy is hidden in a basket floating on the Nile. A fearful mother sings a song of protection. And a brave big sister seeks a chance to save her brother.

Meet the family of baby Moses in this lyrical retelling and see how God’s faithfulness can be revealed through one small person who takes a big risk for someone she loves.

My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Hiding Baby Moses stays true to the story of Moses in the Bible. It’s from Miriam’s perspective, which will make it more relatable for children. The story is told in simple terms to make it easy to understand, and the illustrations are colorful and done well.

At the end of the book, there is more information for parents about Moses in case they don’t know the whole true story. The music for the song that Miriam and her mother sing is also at the end of the book for those who are able to read music.

Hiding Baby Moses is definitely a book I recommend. Not only will it keep a child’s interest, but it teaches a story from the Bible.
