This is my story of how I came to believe and trust in Jesus and what that has since meant in my life. It is about finding purpose in our lives, peace in the valleys and hope in the midst of hardships.
Debby Luke is married to my mom’s cousin, and we see her and her husband, Jahn, occasionally (not often enough). They are the nicest couple I have ever met, and they’re the kind of people you can sit and talk to for hours.
When Debby asked if I wanted to read her book, of course I said yes. I then put it on the bookshelf with all of the other books on my TBR list and sadly forgot about it…until yesterday. Once I started reading My Story for God’s Glory, I wasn’t able to put it down.
I knew Debby has had some health problems, but I had no idea how much she’s gone through! Sharing her thoughts throughout her journey is inspiring, and I feel blessed to have learned more about her. What a woman! I don’t think anyone can read this book and not see what a faithful servant Debby is and how awesome God is, even when He doesn’t answer our prayers how we want them answered.

Title: I Have Faith
Author: Davin Whitehurst
Publisher: Childlike Faith Publishing
Are you ready to get your child excited about faith? “I Have Faith” puts your child right in the footsteps of Danny as he begins to learn about faith. Danny and his older brother have been wanting a dog, but both know their parents don’t think they are ready for a dog. When Danny’s mom begins teaching him what the bible says about faith, he puts his faith into action. After praying and releasing his faith for a dog, doubt and even his best friend keep telling him that he will never get a dog. Over time Danny never loses his faith in the promises of God and finds that God is faithful and that faith works. Come along on this journey that is a real life event that took place in the author’s life as a child.
This book has great illustrations that support a wonderful story about finding faith in God. As you are teaching your child about principals in the bible; this book will help you teach faith. What a wonderful experience it is when we can see our children begin to develop their faith in God, and grow from a tiny mustard seed to a firmly planted tree. The back of the book has a parent/child discussion which will help children gain understanding in faith and some scriptures that Danny’s mom used to get him excited about faith.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
I Have Faith is a nicely illustrated book with text that is easy for young children to read. It teaches them about having faith in the Lord and that He hears and answers our prayers. It’s a great book for teaching children about faith but it doesn’t explain that even though God hears our prayers, sometimes His answer is no. I think it would be important for parents to address the fact that faith is important but even with faith, you may not get a puppy (or whatever your heart desires at the moment).
At the end of the book are questions for discussion between the child and parents, scriptures relating to faith, and a parent guide for help in answering the discussion questions. All of these are great additions to the book.
I Have Faith is a good book to start teaching children about faith.
“Hi! My name is Danny.” This is how I learned to trust God and believe His word.
It’s called faith, and you have faith too.
