I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Chipper is a fox who lives in Arctic Land and wants to bring happiness to his friends by surprising them with gifts. He tries to be sneaky but that doesn’t work! His friends are still appreciative, and they all end up having a fun day.

This is a great book for young children during the holidays or any time of year. There are only a few words on each page but the text still rhymes. There are beautiful illustrations on every page just like the one on the front cover. Illustrations are by Kim Sponaugle.

I definitely recommend Chipper Makes Merry for children. It’s not only a good story but it encourages children to be nice to others.

About the Author

Morgan is a fun wife, and imperfect mom of 3 crazy kiddos and 2 little lemon (problematic) dogs. She tries to live her strengths the best she can. She likes to say she is creative, not crafty. Morgan is a homemade Halloween costume type of mom. She lets her kids mix the play doh. She bakes fun birthday cakes (cutely, but far from perfection). She loves a homemade valentine and a school project. Chipper the Fox is an extension of Morgan’s creative strength. Originally designed as character to create merry during the holiday season, Chipper has grown and developed into a story of determination and love.

Book Review: Breathing is my Superpower by Alicia Ortego

Did you know that we all have Superpowers? One of them is our ability to control our breath.

Breathing is My Superpower teaches children to regulate their emotions, especially if they are feeling upset, angry, or stressed.

Sofia will show your little ones how to control their breathing in various situations, whether at school, at home, or on the playground. Five Breathing Technique presented in the book, will help calm your children and show them a fun way of managing their own body, breath, and emotions.

This mindfulness for kids will help them to control their feelings in many ways:

  • To relax when they think adults do not understand them.
  • To deal with fears and worries.
  • To cope with rejection at school.
  • To regain self-confidence.
  • To give kids relief from anxiety and teach them yoga basics.

Your children will identify with our heroine, Sofia, and love the cheerful illustrations and charming rhymes in this bedtime story.

Breathing is My Superpower is the second book from My Superpower Series –  the growth mindset books for kids, suitable for all ages as well as anyone who works with children.

My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

I read Kindness is My Superpower by Alicia Ortego and thought it was a good book for children to learn the importance of kindness towards others. So, when she asked me to review this book, I was happy to.

Breathing is My Superpower is another “Superpower” book that can aid parents to teach children how to be good to themselves and those around them. Sofia learns a breathing exercise from her mom, and she tries it several times: when she’s angry, upset, or feeling rejected. It works!

This is a sweet book that has colorful pictures and is told in rhymes. In fact, the rhyming words are bolded at the end of each line. In the story, one breathing exercise is taught to Sofia, but at the end of the book, there are several other breathing exercises to try.

This is a wonderful way for children to learn about handling emotions and stressful situations. It would be a great addition to family and school libraries.

Book Review: Kindness is my Superpower by Alicia Ortego

Teach your children the power of Kindness, one of the most important skills a child can learn.

Are you one of 90 percent of parents, saying that their top priorities for their kids is to be caring? This makes sense: Kindness and concern for others are held as moral virtues in nearly every society and every major religion.

The best social-emotional learning (SEL) book for raising kind children.

This charming story with peaceful rhymes and colorful illustrations will explain to your child that it is okay to make a mistake and say I’m sorry. Lucas will teach your child good manners and positive behaviour at home, at school, in the store, and on the playground.

Kids learn best by example.

With the perfect examples, this book offers, your child will have more understanding for others, accept diversity, thrive in a multicultural and inclusive environment, and show more empathy. Throughout the story, little superhero Lucas will learn what kindness means and understand what it is like to be kind, sensitive, caring, and generous.

Practice Random Acts of Kindness.

Also included are Acts of Kindness Cards to promote empathy and kindness.

•••

Kindness is something you can quickly learn:

when you give and ask for nothing in return.

Helping others is the least you can do.

If you are kind, kindness will come back to you.

•••

“Kindness is my Superpower” is intended for children of all ages. We warmly recommend it to parents, teachers, and anyone who works with children.

My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Kindness is My Superpower is about a boy who learns that being kind to others is a much better feeling than being a bully. The story is told in rhymes and the rhyming words are bold, making it easy for children to connect them. The illustrations are colorful and detailed. They’re great! At the end of the book are suggested acts of kindness such as holding the door open for someone or giving a candy bar to the bus driver.

This is a wonderful way for children to learn about intentional kindness. It teaches them about compassion as well as acting without expecting anything in return, which seems to be a problem nowadays. I definitely recommend Kindness is My Superpower for children to read and even for families to use to come up with ideas of acts of kindness they can do together.
