My Review

I read A Flair for Chardonnay and enjoyed it so I was happy to read the next book in the Sadie Kramer Flair Mysteries.

A Flair for Drama is a murder mystery with a quirky main character who likes solving mysteries. Sadie often seems to be in the right place at the right time and she tends to discover clues that detectives overlook. This time, she has been invited by an old friend, Roxy, to see a play that Roxy has been working on as backstage manager. The night Sadie arrives, one of the stars of the play is murdered. She jumps right in and starts asking questions and trying to solve the murder.

The characters are pretty interesting in a way that only theater personnel can be. Sadie realizes that it might be even more difficult to solve a crime in which actors could be involved since an important part of solving a case is being able to read people. She knows it’d be hard to read a good actor. My favorite character is definitely Coco, Sadie’s dog. Coco is smart, a great companion, a ham, and unfortunately, a thief.

A Flair for Drama is a quick, fun read even though it’s a murder mystery. It does stand on its own and they could easily be read out of order.
