My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Argus and Tai are twins who lost their parents when they were young and have been cared for and home schooled by their “aunt” all of their lives. Now that it’s their senior year in high school, they’re being allowed to go to a public high school mainly because their mother had wanted them to live normal lives. The problem is that they’re anything but normal. They’ve always known that they have special abilities but they find out that they don’t know the complete story. The poor twins find this out after their first day of high school…talk about a rough day!

The twins are actually half alien and half human and are the only ones of their kind to live past their 16th birthday. So, of course, their “people” want to find out what makes them different from all of the others. Their aunt is their Guardian and is responsible for keeping them safe. There is a government agency looking for them, as well as hostile aliens, so auntie has her job cut out for her.

The story is told from the viewpoints of Argus and Max, who works for the government agency trying to track down aliens. Argus is lovable and kind. His brother Tai is more of a secondary character and he seems to have a problem with anger which scares him. Even though Max should be considered a bad guy, he really isn’t. Some of these characters are complex which makes for an even better story.

I like Sofia Diana Gabel’s writing style because it’s my favorite kind. She tells a good story and doesn’t get bogged down in lengthy descriptions.

I am planning on reading the next story in the series soon and I’m excited to find out what happens next!
