NEW RELEASE….
When NY reporter Paige MacKenzie leaves Manhattan for Jackson Hole, she has only two things on her mind: enjoy life with Wyoming’s breathtaking Grand Tetons as the backdrop, and spend more time with handsome cowboy Jake Norris as he prepares to open his guest ranch.
As Paige begins to settle in, a stranger’s odd behavior leads her to research western filming in the area – in particular, the movie, Shane. Will digging into Hollywood’s movie connection with Jackson Hole simply lead to a freelance article for the Manhattan Post, or will it lead to a dangerous hidden secret?

My Review
I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. I haven’t read all of the Paige MacKenzie books, but I did read Hutchins Creek Cache and enjoyed it, so I was happy to read another book in the series.
Paige MacKenzie decides that it’s time to take Jake Norris up on his wish to have her move to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She’s getting her own place for now with the intention of her eventually moving onto his ranch. As Paige settles in, she quickly makes friends and gets a part-time job at a cafe which helps her meet even more regulars.
One thing Paige is good at is stumbling upon a mystery. She thinks she’s done just that when she notices a stranger who seems strangely obsessed with the movie Shane, which was filmed there in 1951. Jake thinks she’s just looking for trouble and seeing a mystery that is mostly in her imagination. I do like how he still supports her and is open to listening to her even though he thinks she’s a little crazy. In fact, her craziness seems to be attractive to him. It was rather refreshing.
The first genre that was my favorite was historical fiction and I continue to enjoy it especially when it’s based on fact. When Paige is researching movies that were made in Jackson Hole, she digs up some interesting facts that are actual facts. She even has a character in the book who is an actual person whom she interviewed. I thought that was great! There were also historic places mentioned in the book that are still there today.
Crazy Fox Ranch is a cozy mystery with a sweet romance between Paige and Jake. I like the characters in Jackson Hole and Deborah does a great job at describing the scenery. I’ve only been through Wyoming once but it was breathtaking and she conveys that well. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a strong female character and a touch of history, I recommend Crazy Fox Ranch.

“The author does a great job in vividly describing the resort, town and surrounding landscape, she makes you feel like you are actually there. She also has a gift for making her characters come to life.” – review of Three Silver Doves
“I was thoroughly intrigued by the railroad history that was interspersed throughout the book. Deborah Garner does a wonderful job of making you think you were there as the railroad was built and when it was running. I would strongly suggest you pick up a copy of this book and give it a read.”
