My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Poor Bob! The other items in the fridge notice that Bob the Banana is going bad. They feel sorry for him but they tell him not to give up hope. He could still be banana bread or banana pudding. Later, Bob is mad and has lost all hope when Mr. Abbott uses him in a milkshake!

This is a cute story about holding onto hope when all seems lost. The way that Bob’s refrigerator friends support him is a wonderful lesson for children to learn. The illustrations of the fridge contents are adorable and have bright colors that will keep the attention of children.

My favorite page that children will enjoy is near the end of the book and part of it reads:

“I’m all choked up,” replied Arthur the artichoke.

“Whew! I’m plum tuckered out,” said Paul the plum.

“Yeah. I’m beat,” said Beatrice the beet.

So cute! Bob the Banana Goes Bad is a sweet and well illustrated book that children will enjoy.

About the Authors

Steve Petzinger first created the concept for Bob the Banana when he was just twelve years old. His mother kept the original version, and over the years, his family urged him to publish it. In 2020, he decided to finally take their advice.

Petzinger sought help from his close friend, Selia Akbar-Hussain, who has been teaching preschool for eight years. She has read hundreds of children’s books and is knowledgeable about children’s books content. After months of hard work, their dreams of publishing a children’s book came true.
