My Review

I chose to listen to this book after receiving a free audio copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

This is the third book in the Empire of the House of Thorns series. A lot of it is from the viewpoint of Justice Kasric, but there are parts about others from the third person POV. The switch between the different POVs works well for this series.

So much has happened in a short time, but Justice and her family seem to just take things in stride. She is young but determined to bring her family together and to save England. She and her sisters are strong characters and quite easily deal with dragons, other fantastical creatures, and, of course, faeries. Her family is split in the war between England and Faerie. Is it really possible to save them all?

The narrator was very good. She did great with the voices, and her pace and timing were perfect. Because of the narrator, I think I enjoyed the audiobook more than if I would have read the book.

Armadas in the Mist has a lot of action and so much happening! Don’t blink or you might miss one of the twists. It has a good ending with no cliffhangers, but there could always be another book. You never know!

About the Author

Christian Klaver has been writing for over twenty years, with a number of magazine publications, including Escape Pod, Dark Wisdom Anthology, and Anti-Matter. He’s the author of The Supernatural Case Files of Sherlock Holmes series, but has written over a dozen novels, both fantasy and sci-fi, often with a Noir bent. He’s worked as book-seller, bartender and a martial-arts instructor before settling into a career in internet security. He lives just outside the sprawling decay of Detroit, Michigan, with his wife, Kimberly, his daughter, Kathryn, and a group of animals he refers to as The Menagerie. He’s also a part of the Untitled Writer’s Group based in Ann Arbor for the past decade or so with a bunch of equally starry-eyed dreamers and social misanthropes.
