My Review
Jeff Gunhus is one of my favorite authors so I was thrilled to read and review Killer Pursuit. I already had Killer Within, the first book in the Allison McNeil series, on my TBR list so, of course, I had to read it first (review will be posted tomorrow). I’ve also read his Jack Templar books which are great middle school/young adult books.
Killer Pursuit is one of those books that is difficult to put down. Allison McNeil is great at what she does as a behavioral analyst for the FBI, but she doesn’t put up with anyone’s crap or men’s inappropriate advances, so she’s been labeled as someone who doesn’t work well with others. She’s too good to let go, though, so the Director of the FBI gives her a special, secret assignment.
Allison’s specialty is serial killers. Since she doesn’t seem to care about putting herself in danger and she’s dealing with serial killers, she tends to get into trouble on a regular basis. I like her character. She’s a complex woman and in some ways she is so accomplished but she’s got a lot on her plate including dealing with a father with Alzheimer’s and grief over a lost love. And she knows that she can’t trust anyone, even the Director of the FBI, so she’s pretty much on her own.
Killer Pursuit is a great murder mystery. It’s full of suspense, corruption, mystery, and best of all, it has a couple twists. I definitely recommend it.
