Every caregiver knows the trials of feeding a picky eater. Some nights are truly a battle. Nerves are frayed, and a pleasant, relaxing dinner can quickly be filled with tears, tantrums, and some nights, a battle of wills. Well, my goal with this book is to tip the scales in our favor. One surefire way I’ve discovered to get my picky eaters to eat is to let them help make the meal. After all, food tastes better when you’ve had a hand in fixing it. Let your child try their hand with the recipes in this book. A child who becomes the superhero of dinnertime is one who eats super well.

My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

What a fun book! This book for youngsters has 20 easy recipes with good, detailed instructions. At the beginning of the book are Superhero Cooking Tips which children should definitely read before they try to start making anything.

Each recipe lists the ingredients needed, directions, and most have a superhero tip. The superhero tip can be possible additions or changes to the recipe, other items that go good with that recipe (like putting the Eggtastic Spaghetti on a waffle), or tips (like never pouring grease down the sink drain).

The pictures of boys and girls making the recipes are bright and colorful. The back of the book explains that the author has picky eaters and found that if the children help make the food, they’re more inclined to eat the food. That’s a great idea!

Favorite travel spot?

I’m not sure if Disney World is my favorite travel spot, but it is a pretty fantastic destination spot. It had so much for us to do and see. I’ll never forget the Animal’s Kingdom Kilimanjaro Safaris. It simulates an open-sided safari ride through the savanna of East Africa. Oh, and our hotel was amazing as well. No matter the time, we could sit on the balcony and watch zebras and giraffes graze. Many mornings, I would sit and watch them eat while we ate our morning muffins. Truly an unforgettable family vacation!

About the Author

I am a wife, mother of two kids, a lover of comic books, and a home cook. I believe in making mealtime an enjoyable experience through joint cooking and kid-friendly meals. I also believe kids that help with the cooking process are more likely to eat their meals, which leads to a happy, peaceful dining experience. Be a Superhero in the Kitchen is my first children’s cookbook, but I strive to publish more.
