My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

What an awesome book! War at the Ice Cream Store uses ice cream personified to teach about bullying. Bully Vanilli is the best selling ice cream, and he is always bullying Mustachio Pistachio who is the slowest seller. All of the other ice creams and toppings get behind Mustachio Pistachio, and they teach Bully Vanilli that they are all needed, or he is just plain old vanilla. He even learns to be nice to Mustachio Pistachio.

The illustrations are adorable and have vibrant colors. The text is fun to read, especially during the war. My two favorite lines: “The Reeses loaded their pieces,” and “The M&Ms started rapping.” Reading the book is just the beginning of the fun. The website FrankTLFroggandfriends.com has a lot more, even a narrated multimedia version!

I definitely recommend War at the Ice Cream Store, and I can’t wait to read with to my grandchildren.

About the Authors

Cheryl is an award-winning songwriter, children’s song recording artist (as the cartoon character CADi Grace), and the co-creator of the puppet musical and comedy show, The Waterhole Bunch. After the success of The Waterhole Bunch, Cheryl along with co-creator Dave Gibson, spun off the main character, Frank TL (The Lucky) Frogg, into a children’s entertainment concept, Frank TL Frogg and Friends, featuring the puppets in a magical town called Lucky Fork, Tennessee. Frank TL Frogg and Friends includes books, songs, videos, games, and more for younger audiences. War at the Ice Cream Store is the first of the Frank TL Frogg and Friends children’s book series.

Dave is an award-winning Nashville-based songwriter, having written hundreds of hit songs for artists including Alabama, Montgomery Gentry and Marie Osmond. Dave’s own group, The Gibson/Miller Band, won the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award for best new group in the early nineties. He is the co-creator of the puppet musical and comedy show, The Waterhole Bunch.
