My Review

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

This is a sweet story about EJ who wants to know the true meaning of Christmas. A bully from school tells him it’s about the presents and anyone who thinks otherwise is dumb. When EJ tells his mom that he wishes that a homeless man they saw could have a blanket, she explains to him that that is the meaning of Christmas. He wishes for something someone else needs rather that something like toys for himself.

Being selfless is part of Christmas but I was disappointed that nothing was mentioned about Jesus. Christmas is supposed to be about His birth and so many people have lost sight of that. The watercolor illustrations were different, but I liked them especially since the colors were so vibrant.

I plan on reading this to my grandkids but will stress that it’s only part of what Christmas is about. I think they’ll like it.

About the Author

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Damiano has a passion for creativity, and his stories always contain a positive message. He wrote The Christmas Blanket, which earned him a Mom’s Choice Award. In The Christmas Blanket, his character EJ realizes the true meaning of Christmas, which is not about getting presents, but about giving back to others.
