The Wheels of Time

The wheels of Time are rolling on;
We can not stop them if we would;
Each moment passed, each day that’s gone
Is spent for either bad or good.

It’s not so much how fly the years,
But how we use them as they pass;
Or whether we serve in smiles or tears,
If we have served our very best.

We can not sit in idle dream
And do the things that should be done,
For while in idleness we dwell
The wheels of time are rolling on.

Then wait not for some future date.
The present duties to perform;
Many have found ’twas then too late
To their surprise and great alarm.

The present time is all we have;
The past is now forever gone;
And while we wait for better days,
The wheels of time are rolling on.
